Scholarship applications being accepted for Missouri Summer Fire School

Philip Sayer Memorial Scholarships earmarked for volunteer firefighters and officers

The Missouri Fire Education and Advisory Commission has earmarked scholarships to be awarded in 2016, with an emphasis on basic firefighter training. Each awarded scholarship will provide tuition for up to 24 hours of training during the Missouri Summer Fire School in Jefferson City.


Summer Fire School will be held June 8-12, 2016.  All applicants must:

·     Be recommended by the chief of the firefighter's department.

·     Have at least one year of documented fire service experience.

·     Be at least 18-years-old.

Applications are available at http://dfs.dps.mo.gov/documents/phil-sayer-scholarship-summer.pdf.

Preference will be given to firefighters seeking basic skills training who have not previously received a scholarship. No more than three applications will be considered per fire department.

Completed scholarship applications, Missouri Summer Fire School applications, and any supporting material must be received no later than May 5, 2016.
