Fire Fighter I training and certification is the minimum training and certification recommendation for all future fire fighter certification programs. Certification is issued to those individuals who meet the required qualifications and successfully complete the written and practical skills certification examinations. Fire Fighter II training and certification is the continuing development of fire fighter knowledge and skills leading to more advanced instructor and officer development training.

At any given time, over 70 Fire Fighter I and II approved courses are being conducted throughout the State of Missouri. The Division of Fire Safety has developed Practical Skill booklets written according to the NFPA 1001-2019 Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 Standard and to be used in conjunction with the delivery of an approved Fire Fighter I and/or II course. All materials are referenced to Division’s approved IFSTA’s Essentials of Firefighting and Fire Department Operations, 7th Edition curriculum.

Course delivery, certification testing and student certification requirements may be obtained by downloading the
Fire Fighter I and/or II Guide for Lead Instructors, Practical Skill Evaluators & Fire Fighter Certification
