Scholarship applications being accepted for Missouri Winter Fire School

Philip Sayer Memorial Scholarships earmarked for volunteer firefighters and officers attending University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute Winter Fire School in February

The Missouri Fire Education and Advisory Commission has earmarked scholarships to be awarded in 2019, with an emphasis on basic firefighter training. Each awarded scholarship will provide tuition for up to 12 hours of training during the MUFRTI Winter Fire School in Columbia.
 

Winter Fire School will be held Feb. 1-3, 2019.  All applicants must:

·     Be recommended by the chief of the firefighter's department.

·     Have at least one year of documented fire service experience.

·     Be at least 18-years-old.

The University of Missouri’s Fire and Rescue Training Institute is offering lodging to scholarship recipients residing beyond a 50 mile radius of Columbia.

Preference will be given to firefighters seeking basic skills training who have not previously received a scholarship. No more than three applications will be considered per fire department.

Completed scholarship applications, Missouri Winter Fire School applications, and any supporting material must be received no later than Jan. 10, 2019.
