Fire Service Instructor

The following courses and seminars may be applied toward Fire Service Instructor Recertification:

  • Courses relating to instructional techniques offered by community colleges, universities and Division of Fire Safety approved department deliveries
  • Courses relating to instructional methodology offered by community colleges and the NFA in Emmitsburg, Md.
  • National Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Instructor’s Conference - University Fire & Rescue Training Institute
  • Courses relating to course development offered by community colleges and the NFA in Emmitsburg, Md.
  • Missouri Division of Fire Safety Certification as Fire Officer I and II or course attendance
  • Courses relating to management or administration offered by community colleges and universities
  • Completion of any fire service or law enforcement “train-the-trainer” class
  • Courses relating to public education and youth fire prevention
  • Additional courses as approved by the Division of Fire Safety

Requirements

Documentation of 24 hours additional training related to instructional areas, officer development, personal development and/or professional development. For every hour of verifiable instruction of a certificated course in either: a fire academy, educational institution, or National Fire Academy, or documented in-service training, you will receive one hour of credit. A minimum of 12 hours of training must come from instructional development courses or seminars attended.

Fire Inspector

The following courses and seminars that may be applied toward Fire Inspector Recertification:

  • Fire Marshal’s Association of Missouri Annual Conference
  • Courses relating to fire inspection offered by the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md.
  • Courses relating to fire inspection offered by colleges, community colleges or academies
  • ICC and other code related courses
  • Courses relating to fire code inspection and enforcement
  • Additional courses as approved by the Division of Fire Safety

Requirements

Documentation of at least 30 hours of training as a student or instructor in the field of fire inspection must be submitted to be recertified as a Fire Inspector. The above list of courses and seminars is suggested for training hours; however, you may submit documentation of related courses for review that may not appear on this list.

Fire Investigator

The following courses and seminars that may be applied toward Fire Investigator Recertification:

  • Kansas City Arson Task Force in Kansas City, Mo.
  • International Association of Arson Investigator’s courses and conferences
  • Professional Fire & Fraud Investigator’s Association Conferences
  • Fire Marshal’s Association of Missouri Annual Conference
  • Courses and seminars in the field of law enforcement
  • Courses relating to fire investigation offered by the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md.
  • Courses relating to fire investigation offered by the University Fire & Rescue Training Institute and other community colleges and universities
  • Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings
  • Courses offered by the Bureau of Treasury, Division of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms
  • Courses taken online at www.CFITrainer.net
  • Additional courses as approved by the Division of Fire Safety

Requirements

Documentation of at least 30 hours of training as a student or instructor in the field of fire investigation is necessary to be recertified as a Fire Investigator.
